Valentine's Day Massacre

The race is on
for me to show,
With presents I can find her,
My love so deep
With something cheap
That's been mass-made in china.

From fluffy teddies
To bright red hearts
And sexy undies too,
What boring cliché
Will I get
In order to please you?

And what is more
Can I outdo
The presents of your exes?
With that in mind
Trying to find
Any gift perplexes.

Consumerism
It turns out,
Sponsors love in February.
Card shops thrive
Restaurants come alive
As we tick off the inventory.

So do I need
To spend a fortune
On a cruise across the med?
or can I try
And thriftily buy
Some chocolates instead?

Can I outdo
Everyone you know
And impress with what I spend?
Or am I beat?
Should I admit defeat?
It drives me round the bend.

Valentine's
For me it seems
Is just an imposition
My love for you
As it's so true
Shouldn't be a competition.
